متن کاملCodistances of 3-spherical buildings
We show that a 3-spherical building in which each rank 2 residue is connected far away from a chamber, and each rank 3 residue is simply 2-connected far away from a chamber, admits a twinning (i.e., is one half of a twin building) as soon as it admits a codistance, i.e., a twinning with a single chamber.
متن کاملNetwork coding and spherical buildings
We develop a network coding technique based on flags of subspaces and a corresponding network channel model. To define error correcting codes we introduce a new distance on the flag variety, the Grassmann distance on flags and compare it to the commonly used gallery distance for full flags.
متن کاملThe center conjecture for thick spherical buildings
We prove that a convex subcomplex of a spherical building of type E7 or E8 is a subbuilding or the group of building automorphisms preserving the subcomplex has a fixed point in it. Together with previous results of Mühlherr-Tits, and Leeb and the author, this completes the proof of Tits’ Center Conjecture for thick spherical buildings.
متن کاملThe eigenvalues of oppositeness graphs in buildings of spherical type
Consider the graph Γ obtained by taking as vertices the flags in a finite building of spherical type defined over Fq, where two flags are adjacent when they are opposite. We show that the squares of the eigenvalues of Γ are powers of q.
